INTRODUCTION:
The courses provide a thorough understanding of the HAZOP techniques and experience of their application. Legislation and best practice require companies to proactively manage health and safety of employees and public. The HAZOP Technique is a widely used method of identifying hazards and operability problems, providing the foundation for the risk assessment process. HAZOP can reduce pre and post start-up modifications and improve productivity and product quality. The lectures are underpinned by syndicate exercises. The success of every company depends of each employee’s understanding of the business’s key components. Employee training and development will unlock the companies’ profitability and reliability. When people, processes and technology work together as a team developing practical solutions, companies can maximize profitability and assets in a sustainable manner.

OBJECTIVES:

b. Provide an in-depth understanding and experience of the various HAZOP techniques and their correct application

Day 1:
a. Introduction and course objectives
b. Basic introduction to the risk assessment process
c. Different hazard identification techniques
d. Overview of the HAZOP process
e. Introduction to HAZOP 1
f. The role of the chairman, secretary and the team members
g. HAZOP 1 syndicate exercise including discussion of results
h. Risk ranking at the HAZOP study
Day 2:
a. HAZOP process in detail including the follow-up and review process
b. Detailed look at the HAZOP process
c. Introduction to technique for procedural HAZOP
d. Procedural HAZOP exercise including discussion of results
e. HAZOP actions/recommendations and HAZOP reports
Day 3:
a. Introduction to the HAZOP 2 technique
b. HAZOP 2 syndicate exercise including discussion of results
c. Advantages and disadvantages of the HAZOP technique
d. Pointers for effective HAZOPs
e. Course review including question and answer session
