PRACTICAL PROCESS CONTROL

Training Syllabus:
PRACTICAL PROCESS CONTROL

TRAINING INTRODUCTION:
This training provides a guide for engineers, managers, technicians, and others that are new to process control or experienced control engineers who are unfamiliar with multi-loop control techniques. After the traditional single-loop and multi-loop techniques that are most often used in industry are covered, a brief introduction to advanced control techniques is provided. Whether the participant is working as a process control engineer, working in a control group, or working in an instrument department, the information will set the solid foundation needed to understand and work with existing control systems such as Distributed Control System (DCS) or to design new control applications.

TRAINING OBJECTIVE:
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
• Address the concepts and terminology that are needed to work in the field of process control
• Implement multi-loop control strategies in the real plant application
• Identify process dynamics and gain
• Experience the plant operation and control strategy implementation on Distributed Control System (DCS)
• Specify the control requirements for more complex process plant (continuous and batch processes)
• Understand the operation and tuning basic PID controller (manual Tuning & Self Tuning)
• Design and tune the multi-loop controllers

TRAINING MATERIAL OUTLINE:
1. Measurement and Final Control Element (Sensors and control valves)
2. Field Wiring and Communications (Traditional, HART, FF , Wireless HART)
3. Control Strategy Documentation (Plot Plan, Flow Sheet, P&ID, Loop Diagram)
4. Operator Graphics and Metrics (Human Machine Interface Design)
5. Process Characterization (Identifying process dynamics and gain)
6. Single Loop Control (PID basics, selecting PID structure, action)
7. Tuning and Loop Performance (Manual and Automated tuning)
8. Multi Loop Control (Feedforward, Cascade, Override, Split-range)
9. Model Predictive Control (Addressing Difficult Dynamics, Interactions)
10. Process Modeling (Identification and Process Simulation)
11. Applications: Selected Industrial Case Studies or User on Demand Case
